Last week I went to Smart Nation Expo 2022 which was held in MITEC, Kuala Lumpur. It was a refreshing experience since it has been a long time since the last time I join this kind of exhibition. 9 years back, I was an exhibitor myself in a similar event but in the Oil and Gas industry. Being an exhibitor with just a year of working experience back then really give me a hard but valuable lesson. It pushes me to have the courage to speak to clients where some of them are CEOs, managers, technical experts, and even competitors. I learn to speak confidently even though most of the time I speak more bluff than facts. To make it worst some of them that visit our booth has countered my bluff with real facts. Since then, I really appreciate the effort of this kind of exhibition since I have experienced myself putting hard work and sweat into it.
Back at the Smart Nation Expo, the theme of the event is " Accelerating The Digital Transformation". This event was held as a landmark event that signal Malaysia's next economic leap into the next digital age that supposedly transform the nation. There are more than 80 companies that participate in this event comprise of Application & solutions Developers, ICT companies, Security & Surveillance, state planning, investors and many more.
I met some familiar faces over there. Some of them are developers who have already done pitching sessions with us and some are just colleague from a previous company. I have a nice chat with some of the developers & service providers to understand better the nature of the product and services that they provide. Knowing who the player in the industries and getting to chat with some of them does give me some more insight on what is happening in the market at the moment. It is good to see that some of the developers are also promoting cybersecurity-related products at their booths.
I believe CSM should also take part in this kind of event rather than just focusing on CSM ACE alone. Even though CSM is already well established in Cyber Security Scene in Malaysia, it is important also to establish our existence in industrial players' eyes. Learning from my past experience, joining this kind of exhibition is a really good investment that promised a commercial return in a long run. Aside to that, CSM also can train our staff to be confident and well versed in our services especially when explaining it to our potential clients and stakeholders.
